RentPath’s mission is to help ALL renters find and enjoy their ideal home. The ALL is very important. At RentPath, we believe that having a home is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.
The nation's homeless population increased this year for the first time since 2010, driven by a surge in the number of people living on the streets in Los Angeles and other West Coast cities. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development released its annual Point in Time count December 6, 2017; the report showed nearly 554,000 homeless people across the country during local tallies conducted in January 2017. That figure is up nearly one (1) percent from 2016. Of that total, 193,000 people had no access to nightly shelter and instead were staying in vehicles, tents, the streets and other places considered uninhabitable. The unsheltered figure is up by more than nine (9) percent compared to two years ago.
The best way to end homelessness is to create a path to permanent, affordable housing and provide supportive services for those with mental or physical disabilities. A “housing first” approach, along with intensive case management, is a critical first step on that path.
The mission of RentPath Gives Back is to eradicate homelessness in the communities where we live and work. RentPath employees contribute their muscles, minds and money to help fulfill this mission nationwide. In a little more than a year, the RentPath Gives Back initiative has delivered more than 6,100 hours of community service to local organizations and raised more than $200,000 in employee contributions and company donations.
Through our philanthropic investment and partnerships, we are working to create a better future where homelessness is brief and rare.
The RentPath Gives Back Foundation was founded in Atlanta, Georgia and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Foundation grants are awarded throughout the year based on review and approval by the Foundation's Officers.
